SCHEDULES FOR TODDLERS
Hi lovelies,
Been a while since I posted, been super tied up with Nad not allowing me to do anything in the house.... she crushed my laptop so had to get it fixed..
This post today is quite tricky I may say. Not everyone believes in Scheduling their Little ones.. we try at times but fail miserably, especially the working Mums/Dads. May be because they feel like they have no time for it.
Well, am a working mum and it has been hard. When Nad turned 2 I told myself that I will home school and schedule her daily routine,I did a couple of research and had it all planned and figured out- I thought.
I think and believe that routine is about how you help your tot to grow in body, mind and spirit. It allows you to provide them with almost everything they need during these early days/years through daily living. Before they are even taken to school I/we feel like it is important for them to learn how to express themselves, how to relate with others in school, generosity, table manners and etc.
I tried out a routine which I will share in a few that has proved to work.. not fully but it is something am still trying to figure out. but so far so good.
Here is a simple schedule I try to use with Nad:
- 8:00 am Wake up, breakfast, get ready (this time is never followed at times she wakes up at 10:00 am depending on the weight of her sleep.. heehee)
- 9:00 am Activity lesson (Drawing , colouring and Painting mainly )
- 10:00 am Playtime or TV
- 12:00 pm Lunch
- 1:30 pm Nap time
- 4:30 pm Wake up, snack
- 6:00 pm Dinner
- 7:30 pm Bath (when it is not as cold but i have a heater in the house so we are ok)
- 8:00 pm Bedtime routine, books, prayers
- 8:30 pm Bedtime (Never followed so we watch cartoons)
I made my help understand the routine as well, so everyday when i get home i always ask to be shown what was done in terms of activity then we go through the letters and Numbers with Nad.
I make sure I read for her every night before she sleeps or before we do cartoons.
This has worked magic on Her and i love the fact that she is able to identify 50% of wild animals, fruits , Colours and all that.
Let us see where and how she turns out once she gets to school.
Feel free to ask any question you may have on the comments. Will try to answer to the best of my ability, kindly share your thoughts as well.
Thank you.!!
